Sussex SuperHero 5K
The Sussex SuperHero 5K is an athletic event held at Fort Miles within Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware. The event takes place on a Sunday in late September and supports the Kim and Evans Family Foundation. Participants can choose between in-person categories or a virtual option.
Available distances and categories include:
- 5K run / walk
- Competitive walking 5K
- Virtual 5K
The Competitive walking 5K category is strictly for those who intend to walk the entire distance; running or jogging is not permitted in this specific division. For those attending in person, parking is available in the open lots within the state park.
Participants receive chip timing provided by the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. The event features amenities such as bagels, fruit, and water for those taking part. Awards are presented to top overall male and female finishers, masters winners, and the top three finishers in various age groups ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. There are also specific awards for the top three male and female walkers, as well as team awards for the largest group and the team that raises the most funds.
For safety and insurance reasons, dogs are not permitted at the event. Results are posted online during and after the race, and photos are typically shared on social media following the conclusion of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
