Surf to Sound 5K
The Surf to Sound 5K is a 3.1 mile run and walk held in Surf City, North Carolina on October 24, 2026. The start and finish are at Soundside Park, 517 Roland Ave, Surf City, NC 28445. The in-person 5K is a timed event and participants may walk or run.
The course leaves Soundside Park, crosses the Surf City Bridge, continues to Atkinson Point, then loops back across the bridge to return to Soundside Park. The route follows shoreline views of Topsail Sound and the Atlantic Ocean for about 3.1 miles.
A virtual 5K option allows participants to walk or run anytime and anywhere. Virtual results can be submitted between October 24 and October 27, 2026.
Online registration is available and registration will also be offered at the race via a QR code. The registration fee listed for both in-person and virtual entries is $30. Parking is available at the park and on Roland Avenue; on-street parking is free until 9:00 AM and Surf City may issue parking tickets after 9:00 AM for vehicles that have not paid.
The event raises funds for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, a nonprofit focused on rescue, care, and release of marine turtles, public education, and learning opportunities for students in conservation and related fields.
