Event overview
The Sledgehammer Beach Run takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 in North Topsail Beach, NC. The event is organized by the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission and is held in memory of a Marine and World War II veteran. A portion of race proceeds supports Semper Fi & America’s Fund, which assists wounded, ill, and injured service members and their families. The event includes both in-person and virtual options.

All listed race courses are on the beach. The half marathon has a 4-hour course cutoff; participants remaining on course after four hours will be picked up by staff and will be disqualified for awards. T-shirts are not automatically included in registration; participants can purchase items from the race store and pick them up with their packet or have them shipped for virtual participants.
