Superior Nightmare 5K
The Superior Nightmare 5K is an annual, October road race in Superior, Wisconsin organized by the Young Athletes Foundation. The event pairs a 5-kilometer open road run with a Halloween theme and coordination with the citys Superior Spooktacular celebration. Participants are invited to wear costumes and enter a costume contest with categories for individuals, groups, and kids; winners are chosen by public vote on social media.
Online and in-person registration is offered until event capacity is reached; capacity for recent editions is limited to 750 entries and registration is handled on a first come, first served basis. The published entry fees for the year shown include adult and youth tiers, and youth pricing has been offered separately; the Young Athletes Foundation also announced free kids entries for races in 2026 for athletes 18 and under.
Race services include packet pickup at Grandma’s Marathon Office and at Wessman Arena, free parking at nearby lots including Wessman Arena, Superior High School, and Northern Lights Elementary, and a post race gathering hosted by Aces on 29th where each participant receives a drink ticket. Event swag for participants has included a commemorative full zip jacket for adults and a hooded sweatshirt for youth, with optional commemorative socks available for purchase.
