Superior Nightmare 5K : Young Athletes Foundation
The Superior Nightmare 5K is an annual late-October community running event in Superior, Wisconsin, presented by the Young Athletes Foundation. The race is Halloween-themed and coordinated with the city’s Superior Spooktacular, featuring a family-friendly costume race and a costume contest with prizes across several categories.
Packet pickup is offered on the Friday and Saturday of race week at the Grandma’s Marathon office and at Wessman Arena. Online registration is available before race day; the field is capped at 750 participants and entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis while capacity lasts.
Youth programming includes the Spider Dash kids’ races, free and open to participants ages 14 and under, held on the track outside Wessman Arena after the main event. Adult entries include a commemorative full-zip jacket; youth entries include a commemorative hooded sweatshirt. Participants may also receive a drink ticket valid at the official post-race party in Superior.
Course maps, historical results, and event photos are maintained by the organizer. Race rules restrict pets, bicycles, skate equipment, and unregistered participants on the course; baby joggers and strollers are permitted but must start from the back of the corral. Adaptive athletes are welcome and must follow the event’s wheelchair and adaptive program guidance to arrange accommodations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
