About the race
The Superhero 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is a costume-optional community running event held on April 24, 2027 at The Avenue Viera in Melbourne, Florida. The event benefits Friends of Children of Brevard, a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Brevard County. Funds raised support clothing, shoes, beds, school supplies, birthday and holiday gifts, summer activities, graduation celebrations, emergency assistance, and other direct needs. The event includes family-focused activities such as a community mascot race, a free kids race, inflatables, and additional children’s activities.
All finishers receive a finisher medal, with an extra medal available for Superhero Challenge finishers who complete both races. Other event features include team awards, a costume contest, age-group winner medals, and the option to select the color of the race shirt. The Avenue Viera provides free parking for participants and spectators.
In 2027 the event is part of the Space Coast Runners Runner of the Year Series. Entry fees are listed publicly, with the 5K starting at $30, the 1 Mile Fun Run starting at $25, and the Superhero Challenge starting at $41; prices increase after March 30, 2027.
