Superhero 5K and One Mile Fun Run
The Superhero 5K is an annual community event located at The Avenue Viera in Melbourne, Florida. Organized by Friends of Children of Brevard, the race supports local foster children in Brevard County. Participants can choose between several road race distances and formats:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
- 5K & 1M Superhero Challenge
- Kids Run
- Mascot Run
The event features specialized registration options for individuals and teams of four. To qualify for team awards, groups must include at least one member of the opposite sex. All participants receive a finisher medal, with participants in the Superhero Challenge receiving both a 1-mile finisher medal and a specific 5K challenge medal. Participants select between Team Marvel or Team DC during registration, which determines whether they receive a red or blue performance T-shirt.
Awards are presented for the top three overall male and female finishers, top masters, and the top three finishers in various age categories starting from 8 and under up to 80 and over. Performance awards are also given to the top three fastest co-ed teams. Additional recognitions include the school with the highest participation, best costumes for males, females, and children, and the fastest mascot in the mascot race.
