The CASA of Wise & Jack Counties Superhero 5K takes place on October 17, 2026 in downtown Decatur, TX at Main and State Streets. It is the first edition of this Superhero 5K. The event includes these distances:
- 5K
- Youth Untimed 5K (open to ages 12 and under)
The 5K is a chip timed event. Race t-shirts are guaranteed to participants who register by September 23, 2026. Registration for the youth untimed 5K closes on October 17, 2026. The 5K registration fee is $30 through October 3, 2026 and increases to $40 after that date.
Purpose, awards and rules
The event is organized to increase awareness of child abuse and neglect and to support children experiencing foster care. Funds raised will support CASA of Wise and Jack counties by helping recruit and train volunteer advocates who provide a voice for children in the foster care system.
Awards for the 5K include medals for overall male and female, top youth male and female, and awards three deep in each age division. Age divisions are 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over. Pets are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
