Grasslands Trail Run
The Grasslands Trail Run is an annual trail running event held on the third weekend of March at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands near Decatur, Texas. The grasslands encompass more than 20,000 acres managed by the U.S. Forest Service north of Fort Worth. Trails loop among rolling hills and pass through pine and oak groves, open fields, and areas used for livestock.
Race distances offered include:
- 100 Mile
- 50 Mile
- Marathon
- Half Marathon (Saturday start)
- 15K (Sunday)
The event traces its history back to 1999. Courses are multiuse and runners share the trails with horses and may pass livestock on route. The terrain includes a mix of forested sections and open country, with repeated loops on marked trails. Event information mentions multiple race formats across a weekend, including ultramarathon and shorter trail distances, allowing participants to choose from several established distance options.
