Event overview
The Grasslands Trail Run takes place in the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands near Alvord, TX. The event offers multiple distances and routes that start and finish at TADRA Point Trailhead. Trails pass through rolling hills, pine and oak groves, open fields, and livestock areas. The course uses equestrian trails and is described as non-technical.

The half marathon follows the blue trail. The marathon uses the white and blue trails. The 50-mile and 100-mile distances use the blue, white, yellow, and red trails. The 15K uses the yellow trail. Aid stations are marked on the course map. Elevation gain for the 100-mile distance is 4,000 feet.
Time limits, awards and other policies
The 100-mile distance has a 30-hour cutoff. The 15K has a 3.5 hour cutoff. The 50-mile, marathon and half marathon also have time cutoffs. Finishers in the 100 Mile can earn sub-20, sub-24, or Finisher buckles. Finishers in the 50 Mile, Marathon, Half Marathon and 15K receive a distance-specific medal. Runners receive a soft race shirt; 100-mile entrants may receive a long sleeve shirt if registered before the shirt order is placed.
Volunteers earn race credits for future events, and family members may transfer volunteer credits. Cancellation more than 30 days before the race yields 100% race credit; cancellation between 30 days and two weeks yields 50% race credit. No refunds or transfers are allowed less than two weeks before race day. Credits must be used within one year; extensions for medical reasons or military deployment can be requested in advance.
