Grasslands Trail Run
The Grasslands Trail Run is held annually since 1999 on the third weekend of March at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands near Decatur, Texas. The grasslands comprise more than 20,000 acres managed by the U.S. Forest Service and lie north of Fort Worth.
Trails loop through rolling hills and a mix of pine and oak grove forests, across open fields, and past livestock. Participants share the trails with horses and may pass cattle while on course.
The event program lists several trail distances and start days:
- 100 Mile
- 50 Mile
- Marathon
- Half Marathon (Saturday start)
- 15K (Sunday start)
The description focuses on on-trail conditions and race options rather than start times. The setting emphasizes natural terrain and multiple distance choices set within a managed national grassland. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
