Grasslands Trail Run
The Grasslands Trail Run takes place in the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands near Alvord, TX, a more than 20,000 acre area managed by the U.S. Forest Service north of Fort Worth. Trails loop among rolling hills and pass through pine and oak groves, open fields, and areas with livestock. The event uses equestrian trails that are described as non-technical.
All distances start and finish at TADRA Point Trailhead and follow a series of colored loops. The course map shows all loops with aid stations marked. Trail assignments by distance are noted by the organizer.
Distances:
- 100 Mile
- 50 Miler
- Marathon
- 1/2 Marathon
- 15K
Course and timing details include an approximate 4,000 foot elevation gain for the 100 mile distance and a 30 hour cutoff for the 100 mile. The 15K has a 3.5 hour cutoff, which is the same time the 100 mile finishes on Sunday. Cutoff windows for the 50 mile, marathon, and half marathon extend beyond the 15K cutoff.
Runners receive a soft race shirt; 100 mile registrants who register before the organizer’s shirt order will receive a long sleeve shirt. Finishers in the 100 mile can earn a sub 20, sub 24, or finisher buckle. Finishers in the other distances receive distance specific medals.
Volunteer work earns race credits usable at future Blaze Trails events. Cancellation policies grant race credit on a sliding scale depending on notice; credits must be used within one year, with possible extensions for medical or military reasons. Registration opens April 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
