Sunshine Sprint 5K at Burke Lake Park
The Sunshine Sprint is a 5k held at Burke Lake Park with a start and finish at Shelter C. The course runs through park trails and is mostly paved with a short section of gravel. There are limited elevation gains along the route. Parking is located at Shelter C near the pavilion and volleyball courts.
The event awards a finisher's medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and uses chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before May 6; extra shirts may be available afterward on a first-come first-served basis. Registration fees for the 5k are listed as $30 until April 30 and $35 thereafter; prices increase on race morning.
Two water stations are placed along the course at about mile markers 0.7 and 2.4, with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are located near the parking lot at Shelter A. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers advise arriving early to check in. Race day registration is offered, though t-shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for those who register on race day.
This event awards top finishers overall and age-group placings and is part of series scoring that includes the Year-Long 5k, Back of the Pack Series, and the Spring Series. A virtual run option is available. Live results are posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race.
