Sunshine Festival July 4th 5k & 1 mile
The Sunshine Festival July 4th 5k & 1 mile is scheduled for July 4, 2026 on Saint Simons Island, Georgia. The event is based at the St Simons Park / Kings Park area and lists 601 Mallery Street as an event address. It is the 42nd annual edition.

The 5k course is USTAF certified. The 1 mile follows part of the 5k route along Park Avenue with a turnaround on Magnolia Avenue and finishes at the 5k start line. Timing is chip based; overall fastest male and female are scored by gun time while other categories use chip time. All 5k and 1 mile finishers who complete the course and wear a bib receive a finisher medal.
Race operations include pre-race day packet pickup and walk-up registration on July 3, and race day packet pickup at the Kings Park basketball courts. Race day registrations are not available. The starting line is self-seeded by expected pace into ten pace sections; a push rim division for Adaptive athletes begins ahead of other competitors. Strollers are allowed; dogs are not allowed. Awards cover overall, masters, age groups, youth mile categories, team awards, and special awards such as best costume and best-decorated homes.
