Sunshine Double
The Sunshine Double takes place Saturday, May 1, 2027 and Sunday, May 2, 2027 at Cady Way Park, 2529 Cady Way, Winter Park, FL 32792. Events are held on primarily paved, fairly flat bike and running paths with partial shade and convenient parking near the start and finish.
Distances offered each day:
- 50K (31 miles) - each day
- Marathon (26.2 miles) - each day
- Half marathon (13.1 miles) - each day
- 10K (6.2 miles) - each day
- 5K (3.1 miles) - each day
Courses are lap formats. The marathon, half marathon, and 50K use an approximately 2.2 mile lap (marathon: twelve laps; half: six laps; 50K: fourteen laps plus one short lap). The 5K and 10K use an approximately 1.55 mile lap (5K: two laps; 10K: four laps). Turnarounds are clearly marked and rubber bands are used to track laps.
Timing and certification: races are hand timed, not chip timed, and courses are not certified so they are not Boston qualifiers. A published finish time is provided. The event has a 9.5 hour time limit.
There is a single aid station at the start/finish that will be passed twice each lap; chilled water, Gatorade, soda, and a mix of sweet and salty snacks are available. The event is cupless, so participants are expected to use their own hydration device; a table for bottles will be provided and small paper cups will be available. Bathrooms are located a short walk from the start/finish and are passed on each lap. At the finish, ring the bell or notify the timer so a finish time can be recorded.
Volunteers can earn free race entries by volunteering full days. The atmosphere is low key with limited participant swag and no age group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
