Sunset Run Nissequogue River State Park 5K
Sunset Run for the Park is a community running and walking event held at Nissequogue River State Park. The event includes multiple distances and provides on-site amenities and awards. Amenities include free food and beverages, a complimentary gift and a t-shirt for pre-registered participants while supplies last, complimentary beer for participants aged 21 and over, onsite entertainment including a DJ, and a scenic course. The event offers live online, email, and text results, free video and same-day finish line photos, and additional event photos posted on social media.
Awards are offered for overall finishers and masters, with cash prizes for top overall male and female finishers and top masters, plus 5-year age group awards. Cash awards noted include amounts for first through third overall and for top masters, and age groups run from 14 and under through 80 plus.
The beneficiary is the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that works with the New York State Office of State Parks, Recreation & Historical Preservation to enhance and preserve the park’s historical and environmental assets.
