About the race
Sunset Run for the Park is a community run and walk held at Nissequogue River State Park. The event features a main 5K distance and a separate kids 1K run for younger participants.

Amenities listed for the event include free food and beverages, a complimentary gift and t shirt for pre-registered participants with limited supply on race day, complimentary beer for those 21 and older, entertainment for all ages including a DJ, and a scenic course.
Awards are offered for overall and age categories with cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers and a top masters award. The event uses five-year age groups beginning with 14 and under and continuing up to the 80-plus category.
The beneficiary is the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that works with the state parks office to preserve and enhance the park’s historical and environmental assets.
