Sunrise Stampede

The Sunrise Stampede is a community 5K and 1 Mile run/walk established in 1985. The 2026 edition marks the event's 40th year and takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Fall River Elementary School and Stephen Day Park. Proceeds support Educator Grants, including Special Education and Mental Health grants that are awarded to teachers for innovative classroom projects.

The event includes these distances:

1 Mile fun run/walk

The event uses open space trails and includes age-group awards for top 5K finishers. The day features a Sponsor Alley with games and activities and a School Spirit Challenge where the St. Vrain Valley school with the most participants receives a trophy and cash prize. Prizes and awards are listed by age categories for the 5K.

Registration information notes tiered entry fees with early bird, regular, and race day pricing. A limited number of SVVSD student entries are offered free for each distance courtesy of CommonSpirit Longmont United Hospital. T-shirt availability is limited to earlier registrants; entries after August 7 do not include shirts. The 1 Mile entry fee is listed as $10 and a Sunrise Stampede t-shirt may be purchased separately.
