Sunrise Stampede
The Sunrise Stampede is an annual community 5K and 1 Mile run/walk established in 1985. The 2026 event marks the 40th edition and takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Fall River Elementary School/Stephen Day Park. The event raises funds to support Educator Grants, including Special Education and Mental Health grants, which are awarded to teachers for classroom projects and student support.
The event format includes a timed 5K and a 1 Mile fun run/walk. Awards are offered to top runners in age categories, and a School Spirit Challenge recognizes the St. Vrain Valley school with the most participants with a trophy and cash prize. Sponsor Alley provides community booths with games and activities.
Registration opens in early May 2026 and fees vary by registration period. Limited free entries are available for St. Vrain Valley School District students courtesy of CommonSpirit Longmont United Hospital. T-shirt availability depends on registration deadlines and is not guaranteed for late entries.
Race materials note a back-to-school timing for the weekend before school starts and reference community involvement and long standing local participation. Event organizers provide additional details about registration tiers, sponsorship levels, and awards on their event information pages. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
