Sunrise Stampede
The Sunrise Stampede, established in 1985, is a family-oriented 5K and 1 Mile run/walk held at Fall River Elementary School and Stephen Day Park in Longmont. The event raises funds to support Educator Grants, including grants for Special Education and Mental Health that are awarded to teachers with innovative classroom projects.
The 2026 event marks the 40th annual Sunrise Stampede and is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026. The event features a community-focused atmosphere with activities for families and schools, a School Spirit Challenge that awards a trophy and cash prize to the St. Vrain Valley school with the most participants, and a Sponsor Alley offering games and giveaways. The 5K includes awards for top runners in age categories. The course uses open space trails in the area.
Registration opens on May 5, 2026. Online registration and advance entry options affect shirt availability, and race-day registration is offered. Prices and specific registration deadlines vary by participant type and registration date. The event emphasizes community support for St. Vrain Valley Schools through participant fees and sponsorships. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
