Sunrise Stampede
The Sunrise Stampede is a family-oriented 5K and 1 Mile run/walk established in 1985. The event raises funds to support Educator Grants, including Special Education and Mental Health grants, which are awarded to teachers with innovative ideas that support students and educators. The 2026 event is listed as the 40th annual and is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Fall River Elementary School and Stephen Day Park.
The event highlights include a course that uses open space trails, a Sponsor Alley with games and giveaways, a School Spirit Challenge that awards a trophy and cash prize to the St. Vrain Valley school with the most participants, and age-group awards for top 5K runners.
Registration details note that registration opens on May 5, 2026. 5K registration includes a race t-shirt and has tiered pricing, with a portion of entries reserved free for St. Vrain Valley Schools students. The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk has a set registration fee and also reserves a limited number of free student entries; a Sunrise Stampede t-shirt is available for purchase for the Fun Run.
