About the race
The Steppingley Step is a countryside walking and running event based at Barton-le-Clay Village Hall, Hexton Road, MK45 4JY. The route follows mainly field paths, tracks, woods and some roads through undulating countryside with views from the hills traversed.
Distances offered:
- 12 miles for walkers only.
- 18 miles for walkers and runners.
- 26 miles for walkers and runners.
Parking is available at the village hall or at Arnold Academy on Hexton Road; marshals will give directions and parking in village streets or the private road opposite the HQ is not permitted. Checkpoints are used on each route: one on the 12 mile, two on the 18 mile and three on the 26 mile. Checkpoint opening and closing times are set and will be strictly adhered to.
Entrants must download and print their route description in advance; route descriptions will not be available on the day. GPX files and route details will be published on the organiser website by 5 November 2026. The entry fee includes drinks, biscuits at the start, snacks at checkpoints and a light meal at the finish; vegetarian options will be catered for and some vegan choices may be available but are not guaranteed. Dogs are allowed on leads and must have appropriate liability insurance. Certificates and a free badge on request are provided to finishers.
