Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single-loop trail race of 50K with about 800 m of ascent, held on 31 October 2026. The event starts and finishes at Berkhamsted Cricket Club and passes through Berkhamsted Common, the National Trust Ashridge Estate, The Ridgeway National Trail and sections of the Chiltern Way. The outward route reaches Aldbury (CP1) and Wendover (CP2) before returning through woodland to Ashridge and descending back into Berkhamsted.
The course is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals are positioned at road crossings and busier sections. Navigation back up is supported by a GPX file for watches and phones; runners must carry a digital route as a backup. The event has a 9 hour overall time limit, a maximum field of 350 runners, and is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Dogs are not permitted and the minimum age is 20.
There are three full aid stations plus a water only point at 11.9 km. Aid station supplies include water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration pre-mixed electrolyte drink, gels, chews, snacks, cakes and fresh fruit. Required kit for the whole run includes a mobile phone, refillable water, GPX route on watch or phone, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, additional dry layer, head torch and a reusable cup.
