Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single-loop trail race held on 31 October 2026 with the start and finish at Berkhamsted Cricket Club. The course covers 50K with over 800 m of ascent and a variety of undulating, often wooded terrain. The route passes through Berkhamsted Common and National Trust Ashridge Estate, follows The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury (CP1), continues for about 13 km to Wendover (CP2) and then returns via the Chiltern Way, finishing with a downhill approach into Berkhamsted.
The event is limited to 350 runners, is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is listed as a UTMB World Series index race. Navigation is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and marshals are positioned at road crossings and busy sections. There are three full aid stations plus a water point at 11.9 km; staffed checkpoints include Aldbury Sports Ground, Runaway HQ in Wendover and Wigginton Village Hall. Aid stations offer water, cola, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels, chews, snacks and fresh fruit.
Runners must be at least 20 years old and dogs are not permitted. Required kit includes a mobile phone, route GPX plus paper map, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, an additional dry layer, head torch, and a refillable hydration system with a minimum 0.5 L capacity.
