Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single-loop trail race of 50K with around 800m+ of elevation, held on 31 October 2026. The event starts and finishes at Berkhamsted Cricket Club and follows trails through Berkhamsted Common, the National Trust Ashridge Estate, The Ridgeway National Trail and the Chiltern Way, with Aldbury and Wendover marked as key checkpoints.
The course is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons, with marshals at road crossings and busier sections. Runners must carry a digital GPX route on a watch or phone; printed maps are available at registration. A GPX file and route maps are published for navigation. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association (#8215) and held under UKA rules. It is an UTMB World Series Index race.
There are three full aid stations and one water-only point. Aid locations include Beacon Road (water only at 11.9km), Aldbury Sports Ground (17.7km), Runaway HQ Wendover (30.8km) and Wigginton Village Hall (41.4km). Aid stations provide water, coke, electrolyte drink, gels, chews, snacks, flapjacks and fresh fruit. Course-wide medical support and chip timing with live results are provided.
Entry is open to runners aged 20 or older, with a maximum field of 350 and a 9-hour time limit. Required kit includes mobile phone, route GPX plus paper map, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, additional dry layer, head torch, reusable cup, refillable hydration (0.5L min) and cash or card. Trail shoes are recommended for varied and potentially muddy terrain. Refreshments are available at the finish. Parking is not available at the venue; public car parks are listed nearby.
