Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single loop trail race on 31 October 2026 that starts and finishes at Berkhamsted Cricket Club. The course covers 50K with about 800 m of elevation gain and is licensed by the Trail Running Association. The event is listed as a UTMB World Series index race.
The route passes through Berkhamsted Common and National Trust Ashridge Estate, follows The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury (checkpoint 1 at 17.7 km), continues to Wendover (checkpoint 2 at 30.8 km) then follows the Chiltern Way on more single track and woodland before returning to Ashridge and finishing in Berkhamsted. There is a water point at Beacon Road (11.9 km) and a further checkpoint at Wigginton Village Hall (41.4 km).
The race is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, with marshals at road crossings and course checkers during the event. All runners are required to carry a route GPX on watch or phone plus a paper map, a waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, an additional dry layer, head torch, mobile phone and a refillable water system. Printed maps are available at registration and a GPX file is provided in advance.
Entry cost is £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners), minimum age is 20 and the field is capped at 350 entrants. The event has a 9 hour time limit, on route medical support, chip timing and three full aid stations supplying drinks, gels, snacks and fresh fruit.
