Event overview
The Sunburn Striders event on August 15, 2026 includes 5k and 10k race options held at Greensprings Interpretive Trail in Williamsburg, VA. The race is chip timed and offers a finisher’s medal and a technical (DriFit) event shirt to participants. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person.

Course, timing and logistics
The trail loops through beaver ponds, wetlands and forests and includes sections of wooden boardwalk and interpretative signs about the environment and local history. The 5k is a loop course; the 10k is an out-and-back. There are three water stations on the 10k at approximately miles 1.55, 3.1 and 4.65, and one water station on the 5k at about mile 1.55. Port-a-johns are located adjacent to the parking lot. Parking is available at the Greensprings Interpretive Trail trailhead (3751 John Tyler Hwy); a GPS pin is provided for the location.
Packet pickup is available at the event. Race day registration is offered; t-shirt sizes are guaranteed only for runners registered before August 5. Registration fees listed include reduced prices through July 31 and a noted increase on race morning.
Results, awards and charity
Live results will be posted online and final results with series points are published after the race. Awards go to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in standard age brackets from 19&Under through 70+. Points for this event count toward year-long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series and the Summer Series. The event supports Paws of Honor, which provides veterinary care and products for retired military and law enforcement K9s. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
