Course and logistics
The course is on the Greensprings Interpretive Trail and is described as flat. The trail loops through beaver ponds, wetlands and forests, includes sections of wooden boardwalk, and has interpretative signs about the environment, historic events of early colonists and American Indians, and area wildlife. The 5k is a loop; the 10k is an out-and-back.
There are three water stations on the 10k course at approximately miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65, and one water station on the 5k at about mile 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Port-a-johns are located adjacent to the parking lot. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before August 5; sizes for race day registrants are not guaranteed.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in listed age categories. The event supports the charity Paws of Honor, which provides veterinary care and products at no charge for retired military and law enforcement K9s.
