Nelson's Summit 50/50 - Salamanca, NY
Nelson's Summit 50/50 is an annual trail running event organized by Salt City Trail Racing in partnership with Allegany State Park. The event is held in the Red House area of Allegany State Park near Salamanca, NY, and offers multiple distances on a looped, marked course that begins and ends at the Art Roscoe warming hut.
The course uses groomed trail, single track, and rolling hills. The loop covers about 16 miles with roughly 2,250 feet of elevation change, so measured distances are slightly over the nominal distances. The race features two aid stations, course flags and signs, and time cutoffs for each distance.
Distances offered:
- 25km - ~16.1 miles, ~2,244 ft elevation, 6 hour cutoff
- 50km - ~32.2 miles, ~4,537 ft elevation, 9 hour cutoff
- 50 Miler - ~50.2 miles, ~6,873 ft elevation, 14 hour cutoff
All entrants receive a pair of event socks. Prizes are awarded to top finishers by distance and gender. Aid stations include water, electrolytes, fruit, snacks, candy, and a limited selection of hot foods for 50 mile runners after mile 34. The event is USATF sanctioned and insured, Trail Sisters approved, and listed as a UTMB Index race.
Refunds are not granted. Deferrals are permitted for pregnancy, injury, or volunteering if slots remain. Distance changes are allowed until online registration closes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
