Nelson's Summit 50/50, Salamanca NY
Salt City Trail Racing, in partnership with Allegany State Park, organizes the 6th annual Nelson's Summit 50/50 near Salamanca, NY. The event offers multiple looped trail distances and uses the Red House area of Allegany State Park as its start and finish location at the Art Roscoe warming hut.
The park covers nearly 65,000 acres and borders Allegheny National Forest. The area includes varied forest terrain and supports wildlife such as bobcats, American black bears, and elk.
The course combines groomed trails, single track, and rolling hills. Runners complete laps of an approximately 16 mile loop that adds up to the advertised distances and elevation totals. The route is marked with flags and signs. Two well-stocked aid stations support participants and provide water, electrolyte drink, fruit, snacks, and a limited selection of hot foods for 50 mile runners after mile 34.
The event is USATF sanctioned and insured, Trail Sisters approved, and listed as a UTMB Index race. All participants receive a pair of SCTR socks. Prizes are awarded to top finishers in each distance and gender division. Refunds are not available; deferrals and distance changes are subject to the organizer's stated policies.
