14th Summer’s End 5k
The Summer’s End 5k is a road race held in Dewey Beach, Delaware. This event serves as the eighth part of the Ten Sisters of Dewey Beach Series. The race begins and ends at North Beach Restaurant on McKinley Street.
Participants can choose between different categories:
- 5k Run / Walk
- 5k Competitive Walking
The competitive walking category requires participants to walk the entire course; running or jogging is not permitted in this specific division. The event uses the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System for electronic chip timing. Results are posted online during and after the competition.
The event features several amenities, including gender-specific tee shirts and various giveaway items. Following the race, a party takes place at Jimmy's Grill, which includes fried chicken and beer for participants aged 21 and over. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, masters winners, and the top three finishers in five-year age groups ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Gift cards are also awarded to the fastest and the largest participating teams.
The event supports the Dewey Beach Patrol and Rotary Club #41. Free parking is available at meters and on side streets until 10 am, though space at the main venue is limited.
