31st Summer Sunrise Watermelon Series

The 31st Summer Sunrise Watermelon Series is a three-race 5K series held at Lake Hollingsworth Park in Lakeland, FL. The series is organized by the Lakeland Runners Club, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes running and fitness in the community. Participants may enter a single 5K or register for the full three-race series. The course is USATF certified (FL21019JK) and the races are chip-timed. Walkers are welcome.

Proceeds from the Watermelon 5K Series support scholarship funding for Polk County students. The scholarship program began in 2011 and has awarded over $123,000 to high school seniors. Packet pickup is handled in person; bibs, shirts, medals, and awards are not mailed. A friend or family member may collect a packet or award during the scheduled pickup windows. Any shirts not picked up before the race will be available for exchange after the event.
