6th Annual Summer Heat 5K Run/Walk
The event takes place on June 6, 2026 at Old Fort King Trail near 13515 US Hwy 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. Two course options are offered:
- 5K
- 1 miler
The route runs along Flint Creek and passes near Fellowship Baptist Church. The organizer notes natural trail conditions including uneven terrain, hills, rocks, and water. Participants should be aware of local wildlife and share the area with its inhabitants.
Awards include first overall male and female, masters male and female, and the top three participants in each 10-year age group. All participants receive a race medal. A brief Gospel presentation is scheduled during the event. A percentage of proceeds will support The Timothy Initiative for planting a second church and the event’s continued annual support of Steps for Stetson's 5K for Stetsons Ministries.
Registration opens March 23, 2026 and closes June 6, 2026. The listed registration fees are $30.00 for the 5K and $12.50 for the 1 miler. For safety, participants must be able to hear course directions (no headphones), strollers and pets are not allowed on the 5K course though support animals are permitted, and younger children must be accompanied by an adult.
