Summer Burn 5K - The Goose Chase
The Summer Burn 5K is an inaugural community running event presented by The Goose Chase. The event features a 5K course and a Little Sparks Kid's Dash for children 10 and under. It is held at Johnson City Brewing Co, where participants can gather after the course for local vendors and live music.
The event supports the Cradic Cartwright Brain Alliance. Proceeds and donations are designated to raise awareness, provide support for families affected by glioblastoma, and contribute to research funding.
Race entries include event items such as a Summer Burn T-shirt, a finisher medal, and themed photo opportunities. Awards are planned for top finishers overall and in age categories, including top male and female overall, masters, grandmasters, and several age-group placements; the kids race will have top three boy and girl awards.
A virtual option allows participants to complete the distance remotely by tracking time or distance with a GPS device or app and submitting a photo or screenshot of results for official completion. Race items for virtual participants can be picked up at packet pickup, mailed for an additional fee, or collected at a local market.
