Stub Stewart Trail Challenge
The Stub Stewart Trail Challenge is a trail running event at L.L. Stewart State Park near Buxton, Oregon. The core course is a 6.5 mile loop used repeatedly to create different race distances.
Available race distances are lap based and include:
- Quarter Marathon, one 6.5 mile loop
- Half Marathon, two loops
- Three Quarter, three loops
- Full Marathon, four loops
Participants may decide during the event which distance to complete; results reflect the distance actually finished. Entry fees are listed as $65 before 9/1 and $85 after that date. Registration closes Apr 4.
Course conditions vary by season. Trails are described as muddy at this time of year but also fast and runnable. The route moves between pavement on the Banks-Vernonia trail and an unapproved road, and it includes both gently rolling sections and steeper climbs. Segments are relatively short, producing frequent changes of surface and terrain.
Awards are given to top male and female finishers at each distance, with the Golden Truckers and eight Bivouac Golds noted as prizes for those winners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
