Event overview
The Stuart Learmouth Memorial Undulator is a BM fell race held on Sunday 27 September 2026 in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. The course distance is 13.7 km (8.5 miles) with 457 m (about 1500 ft) of ascent. The event is open to people aged 18 or over on the day. Entries are by pre-entry only; the entry fee is £10. Entries open online in January and close at 18:00 on Friday 25 September. No entries on the day, no refunds and no substitutions are permitted. Competitors are asked to bring their own cup for water. The race holds a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the Fell Runners Association.
Route and course details
The route starts in Stoney Wood, land reclaimed from Stonecroft Quarry, and includes a mix of steep climbs, flat sections, rocky ground, trails, lanes and short road sections. The course crosses Middle Peak Quarry, pastureland and fields toward Middleton Top and the historic winding house on the Middleton Incline. It crosses the B5035 and the High Peak Trail, passes wind turbines near Ryder Point Quarry, and climbs to the trig point on Harborough Rocks at about 1230 ft above sea level. The return includes a mainly downhill stretch along the High Peak Trail, Carsington Pastures, a steep descent into Carsington village, road sections past Hopton Hall, another climb near Middleton Top, then a final downhill through Middle Peak Quarry and the edge of Stoney Wood to the finish.
