Event Overview
The Strut for Childhood Cancer Race is a running event scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026. It takes place at Long Leaf Park in Wilmington, North Carolina, specifically at shelters 5 and 6 on the park's loop. The event supports childhood cancer families, with all proceeds benefiting Cape Fear children through the Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
Distances
The event offers two distances:
- A timed 5K run/walk.
- An untimed 1 mile run/walk.
Course and Amenities
The course is described as easy and is both stroller and wheelchair friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the course. After the race, there is a foam party at the finish line provided by Flamingo Foam. Parking is available at open spots within Long Leaf Park.
Registration and Awards
Participants who register by February 3, 2026, are guaranteed a race shirt in their requested size. A price increase for both distances is scheduled for February 15, 2026. Awards are given for the 5K, including for the top three male and female finishers overall, the top three kids (12 and under), and the first-place male and female in various age groups.
