Course and event details
The run follows a flat course from the boardwalk through neighborhoods and parks. The course is stroller, wheelchair and dog friendly. The Polar Plunge occurs on the beach at the same address. The event features live music, vendors, food trucks and games. Parking is available on legal street spots in surrounding blocks; parking fees may apply.
Awards, swag and fundraising
All 1 Mile and 5K finishers receive a finisher medal. 5K awards include top 3 overall male and female and top 3 male/female in age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Shirt orders are guaranteed for registrations completed by January 15, 2026; later registrants may choose from remaining sizes while supplies last. The event raises funds for Special Olympics New Hanover County, which provides year-round sports training in 27 sports and serves more than 1,000 athletes with support from volunteers.
