Event Overview
The Novant Health Wilmington NC Marathon takes place in New Hanover County, North Carolina. This multi-distance event features a point-to-point course that connects seaside landscapes with urban history. Participants travel from Wrightsville Beach through several scenic areas before reaching the finish line located in downtown Wilmington along the Cape Fear River.
Distances
- Marathon: A 26.2 mile course crossing six bridges with views of the ocean and river.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1 mile route spanning from the beach to the downtown riverfront.
- 5K: A shorter distance running race held on the main event day.
- 1 Mile: A dedicated race specifically for children in 1st through 8th grade.
- Duo Team: An option for riders participating as part of a duo team in several distances.
Course Details
The marathon route provides participants with views of the intracoastal waterway, Greenfield Park, and various parts of New Hanover County. The course includes six different bridges within the Wilmington area. All primary running events conclude at the historic downtown waterfront. Virtual participation options are also available for the marathon, half marathon, and 5K distances for those unable to attend the physical event in North Carolina.
