Memorial 5K in Owensboro
This event is a memorial 5K run/walk held in Owensboro, Kentucky to raise awareness and funds for congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) research, education, and prevention. The route is an out and back on the paved Adkisson Greenbelt Park West Trail, starting at the Joe Ford Nature Center and turning around near the 5th Street and Carter Avenue crossing. Parking is available at Joe Ford Nature Park, 3870 West 2nd Street, and at GRADD, 300 Gradd Way.
The event is organized in partnership with Strides 4 CMV during CMV awareness month and is presented as a memorial to an infant lost to congenital CMV. Registration opens March 1, 2026. Entry fee is $25 with a registration deadline of May 31 to guarantee a race shirt; race day registration is $30 and accepts cash or check only, with no guarantee of shirts for late registrations.
Pre-packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Terry’s Tees, 1359 E 4th St, Owensboro, KY 42303. Awards include a $50 cash prize for the overall top male and female, and top male and female in the following age groups: 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-99.
