Spring into Summer 5K - Owensboro
The event is a 5K run/walk held on May 23, 2026, in Owensboro at 1524 W Parrish Avenue. The route begins at OCHS, loops at OCMS, and returns to OCHS. Chip timing is used for all runners.
The race is organized as a family-friendly event. The description notes music and encouragement along the route, costumes are welcome, and strollers and children are allowed to participate. Participants of a wide range of ages may take part.
All proceeds from the race will be used to upgrade the OCHS Emerald Players theatre lighting system. Prize awards include cash prizes and trophies: an overall race winner prize of $100; category cash prizes of $75 for senior (ages 50-99), adult (ages 19-49), and youth (ages 1-18); and a trophy for each male and female per category.
There are team awards for sports programs. Two sports teams that deliver the highest percentage of their roster will receive a $100 donation to their program, with donations capped at $250. Two roster-size categories apply: teams with 25 or fewer athletes and teams with 26 or more athletes. Coaches must submit rosters by May 20th and athletes should indicate their team on registration.
