Strides for Shelter 5k and Fun Run
Strides for Shelter is scheduled for October 17, 2026 at McAlpine Creek Park, 8711 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC. The event marks the tenth anniversary presented by the Canopy Housing Foundation and benefits Crisis Assistance Ministry.
Proceeds from the event will fund a major transformation of Crisis Assistance Ministry’s Free Store. The project will improve organization, layout, and flow so families can access clothing, shoes, and household essentials with greater dignity and ease. The planned upgrades aim to reduce congestion and create a more customer centered shopping environment for neighbors in financial crisis.

- 5K (Virtual or Sleep-in option)
- 1K Fun Run
Registration for the in person 5K includes a race t-shirt and chip timing. Swag bags, post-race food and drink, and children's activities will be available. The event has fundraising components; at the time of listing it shows $1,647.93 raised toward a $20,000 goal and 109 participants registered.
