Stride Forward 5K

Stride Forward is the inaugural YWCA of the Niagara Frontier 5K held in Downtown North Tonawanda on April 17, 2027. The event starts and finishes near 49 Tremont St and follows an out-and-back course along the Historic Erie Canal. The course begins on Tremont Street next to the First United Methodist Church (65 Main St), continues via a neighboring side street onto Sweeney Street, runs alongside the canal, and returns to the original start location.

Registration opens October 1, 2026 with tiered pricing: Early Bird $30 through December 31, 2026; General $35 from January 1 to March 31, 2027; Late $45 from April 1 to April 16, 2027. Registration includes an adult unisex t-shirt, a goody bag, and a finisher’s medal. A "Fundraise for Free Entry" promotion is offered during registration.

This is a professionally timed race. All finishers receive a custom finisher’s medal and awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers. Packet pick-up is available April 15 and 16 at the YWCA building at 49 Tremont St inside Sprinkles Cafe, with additional packet pick-up at the on-site registration booth prior to the start.

Post-race activities on Tremont Street include food and drinks, live music, a basket raffle inside Sprinkles Cafe, community connections, and award presentations. There is ample free street parking and city lots in the surrounding downtown area. All proceeds benefit the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier, supporting services in gender equality, education, crisis services, and childcare.
