Event overview
The Festival of Lights 5K is a community road race held at Veterans Memorial Park in the Town of Niagara, Niagara Falls, New York. The event features a 5K distance and a large holiday light display inside the park. Net proceeds will be used to purchase toys for students at Tuscarora Indian School.
Course, registration and race-day services
The course is USATF certified (#NY18006JJ). Most of the route is on asphalt with a woodland section on a packed gravel trail. The start and finish are located in the large parking lot adjacent to the Calvin K. Richards Senior/Youth Activity Center. One water stop is provided at the midpoint and bottled water is available at the finish. Professional timing uses Jaguar Electronic RFID timing provided by Race Management Solutions, with results available via the ITSYourRace app, kiosks, and web platforms. Post-race music, an awards ceremony, and pizza provided by Favorite's Pizza are part of the event. Online and mail-in registration options are offered; early registration includes guaranteed event shirts while a limited number of extra shirts will be distributed first-come, first-served. Trophies are awarded to the overall male and female winners, and custom awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 and older. Parking is free, with one lot near the finish holding about 40 cars and other lots within walking distance holding hundreds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
