Stride for Sophia 5K : Arab City Park
The Stride for Sophia 5K takes place on March 7, 2026 at Arab City Park in Arab, Alabama (844 Shoal Creek Trail). The event is organised as a memorial to a local high‑school runner who died at age 15 due to mental health struggles. It aims to honour her encouragement of teammates and her presence at cross country and track events.
All proceeds support Wellstone Inc, a mental health charity that assists young people and families. The event is presented as a community 5K where there will not be official timing; participants may run or walk. Medals will be awarded to the top four female runners, top four male runners, and top four kid runners aged 10 and below. T-shirt orders close on February 16.
The course starts in the youth baseball parking lot at Arab City Park and follows a loop that includes City Park Drive, Spring Road, Jeremy Place SE, Smalley Drive SE, and Dana Drive SE before returning to the starting area.
