About the race

Stride for Shelter is an inaugural, community-led peer-to-peer fundraising event to raise funds and awareness for youth experiencing homelessness in Stratford. The event names Shelterlink Youth Services as its beneficiary; funds raised will support Shelterlink’s emergency shelter and prevention services for vulnerable local youth.

The format is a 24-hour overnight community challenge at the Stratford Education and Recreation Centre (SERC) on November 21. Participants run, walk, or support a track loop every hour for 24 hours, completing a 2 km loop once each hour. The relay-style schedule is intended to create a shared experience of solidarity and to draw attention to youth homelessness in the community.

Organizers describe the event as community driven and peer to peer, and set a fundraising goal of $35,000 in celebration of Shelterlink’s 35th anniversary. The event materials note local municipal support and that Shelterlink will receive all funds raised to support its programs.

Practical details published for the event include the venue name and the continuous 24-hour relay format with an hourly 2 km loop. Information about registration and fees is listed by the organizer through the event platform. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
