Stride for Hope 5K
The Stride for Hope 5K and Homecoming Festival takes place along the banks of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC. This event features a flat course through Anacostia Park, starting and finishing near the Skate Pavilion. The race serves to support the mission of the Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School, which provides education and career training for adult learners in DC.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K
- Learner's 5K (3.11 miles)
- Alumni 5K (3.11 miles)
All finishers receive medals for their participation. The event also includes a mile-long Family Fun walk and team challenges. Following the athletic portions of the day, a Homecoming Festival begins featuring music and food.
Due to National Park regulations, the venue has specific access requirements. Anacostia Park Drive is closed to all vehicular traffic during the event, and participants must arrive at the park before the road closure begins. Registration is available in advance, and any registration handled on the day of the event must be processed via credit card or payment app, as cash and checks are not accepted at the site.
