Stride for Hope 5K and Homecoming Festival
Stride for Hope is a community event on April 25, 2026 at Anacostia Park, Skate Pavilion, 1500 Anacostia Drive SE, Washington, DC 20020. The day combines multiple 5K race options with a homecoming festival that features stage performances, panel conversations, and community programming.
Race options include:
- 5K Run/Walk (in-person)
- Virtual 5K
- Learner's 5K (3.11 miles)
- Alumni 5K (3.11 miles)
Registration fees vary by event: $25 for the in-person 5K, $40 for the virtual 5K, $10 for the Learner's 5K, and $25 for the Alumni 5K. Some events open registration in mid 2025 and several registration windows extend into April 2026. Limited race day registration is available and cash is not accepted on site due to park regulations.
Anacostia Park Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic during the race; park entry is restricted before the closure and reopens after the event. The festival portion includes multiple stage performances, a welcome from organizational leadership, special musical guests, and in-conversation panels that focus on community and learning.
The event supports Academy of Hope, which serves more than 1,000 adult learners each year across two campuses. Academy of Hope provides free tuition for DC residents, flexible learning options, and student support services such as childcare, transportation assistance, food resources, housing support, and behavioral health services. The Academy of Hope Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) that raises funds to sustain and expand these programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
