Stowe 100 Miler and 24 Hour Maple Womens Invitational
This inaugural women's only, invitational endurance event is limited to 50 participants and offers a 100 mile race with a 32 hour time limit and a separate 24 hour option with two start choices. The races take place on the paved Stowe Recreation Trail in Stowe, Vermont.
The day course is a roughly 5.3 mile out-and-back that follows the west branch river. An alternate shorter overnight loop of about 3 miles will be used after dark to avoid road crossings. The surface is paved and the course is described as fairly flat and suitable for sustained running.
Support and logistics center on a headquarters at the start/finish area. An aid station is located about one mile downstream at Riverside Inn. During the day the longest section with limited aid may be about 6 miles; overnight and on day two aid will be provided at intervals of less than 2 miles. Public water fountains and porta potties are available roughly every mile, and a bathroom with running water is located about 200 meters up a hill from the trail during the day.
The event is presented as logistically straightforward for experienced or newer ultramarathoners. The stated registration fee is $150 and an awards ceremony follows the completion of the 100 mile race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
