Event

The Stour Valley Marathon & Half takes place on 14 June 2026 at Nayland Village Hall, Church Lane, Nayland, Colchester CO6 4JH. The event is organised by Hare & Tortoise Running and is scheduled as an in-person race. Entry fees are listed across the event and were shown between £19 and £28. Cut-off times are 8 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half.

Course and format

The marathon route covers around 27 miles using parts of the St. Edmunds Way, Stour Valley Path and the Essex Way. The course includes tracks, trails, roads and byways. The half marathon follows the first loop of the marathon route.

Navigation is predominantly self-led. Route guidance will be provided as a GPX file or written instructions available for download when finalised. The event is cupless; participants must provide their own cup for drinks. Collapsible speedcups are available to purchase for £2.50 each.

Aid stations and checkpoints are provided and are described as fully stocked at approximately 6, 11, 15 and 20.5 miles. Parking and toilets are available at Nayland Village Hall and are provided free of charge for the day.

Entry details and restrictions

Age limits are set at 18 and over for the marathon and 17 and over for the half marathon. The basic entry fee does not include a medal; a medal can be selected and paid for at registration and additional medals or tees will not be issued on race day.
