Stour Valley Marathon & Half
The event, organised by Hare & Tortoise Running, is based at Nayland Village Hall in Colchester. The marathon route covers 27 miles using a combination of the St. Edmunds Way, the Stour Valley Path and the Essex Way, and follows tracks, trails, roads and byways.
The race is predominantly self navigation. Navigation files or written instructions will be provided for download when finalised. Checkpoints and fully stocked aid stations are placed at approximately 6, 11, 15 and 20.5 miles. The event is cupless so participants must provide a cup for drinks; collapsible speedcups can be purchased during registration or on the day for £2.50 each.
A half marathon is held on the same day and uses the first loop of the marathon route. The event has cut off times of 8 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half marathon. Entry fees follow a new structure in which the basic entry does not include a medal; medals and tees must be selected and paid for at registration and cannot be issued additionally on race day. Parking and toilets are available at Nayland Village Hall and are provided free of charge for the day.
