Gosfield Backyard Ultra
Gosfield Backyard Ultra is a last-person-standing running event held at Gosfield School in Essex, UK from 29 Aug 2026 to 31 Aug 2026. Participants run a measured loop of 4.167-mile (6706 metres) and must begin a new lap on the hour, every hour, until only one runner remains.
The event uses a strict timing and start procedure. A horn sounds exactly on the hour; runners must be in the starting area before the horn and must start each loop and cross the finish line within 30 seconds of the horn. Loops completed after the hour do not count. A start corral is marked and whistle warnings are given at three, two and one minute before each start. No on-course support or assistance is allowed during a loop, and retrieving items from a tent or receiving handed supplies during a lap can lead to disqualification.
Facilities on site include a camping area next to race headquarters, an indoor area, wifi, a USB charging station, showers, changing rooms and toilets. The route is fully marked. A small aid station offers hot and cold drinks, fluids, and a limited selection of fruit, sweets and snacks; extra tables are available for unattended personal items.
A finishers memento is provided to each runner and a unique prize plus £150 is offered to the overall winner. Entry places are capped at 100.
