Gosfield Backyard Ultra : event overview
Gosfield Backyard Ultra is a last-man-standing running event held at Gosfield School, Halstead Road, Gosfield CO9 1PF, Essex, UK from 29 August 2026 to 31 August 2026. Entry is limited to 100 places. Entry fees range from about £78 to £90, with discounted rates for members of clubs affiliated to EA, WA, or SA. Refunds are available at 50% until 26 July 2026 and places can be transferred until 1 August 2026. Every finisher receives a memento; the winner receives a unique prize plus £150. The site is available for setup from Friday evening before the event.
Format, facilities and rules
Runners complete a loop of 4.167 miles (6706 metres) each hour. A lap must be completed before the next hour begins and runners must be in the start area before the hour horn; failure to do so leads to disqualification or a DNF. Runners must start each loop and cross the line within 30 seconds of the start horn. A start corral is marked and whistles will sound shortly before each wave. No on-course support is allowed and competitors may not visit their tent or receive assistance after starting a loop. The route is fully marked. Race HQ offers a camping area adjacent to the HQ, an indoor area, wifi, USB charging, showers, changing rooms, and a small aid station with hot and cold drinks, liquids, fruits, sweets and snacks.
