Storybook Half Marathon
The event is a half marathon held in Roosevelt Forest at 700 Peters Lane, Stratford, CT. The race distance is 13.1 miles, completed by running eight laps of a 1.64-mile wooded loop on marked singletrack and doubletrack trails. The course features roots, rocks, and gently rolling hills. Runners have up to four hours to finish. Some prior trail experience is helpful.
Logistics, services and policies
The main pavilion serves as the primary aid station; runners pass it every loop and fueling and hydration will be available there. Porta potties will be located near the pavilion. Every participant receives a Storybook Half Marathon medallion and non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing; additional race shirts and gear are available for purchase during registration or possibly on race day in limited sizes. Podium prizes will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for notable costumes.
Registration is final with no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals. Participants must be 18 years or older to enter without a parental waiver. The organizers will follow CDC, state, and local health guidance. Parking is limited; larger vehicles should use the side lot and RVs are not allowed.
Community activity
The event includes a book drive in partnership with Books4Everyone to collect new and gently used children’s books for distribution to schools, shelters, food banks, and community organizations in Fairfield County. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
