Stories Trail Runs : Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Colorado Springs
The Stories Trail Runs is a two-day winter trail running event held at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The weekend combines timed multi-loop ultraruns and set-distance trail races with a single main staging area and aid station located at the start/finish of each loop. Event capacity is 225 runners combined.
Timed formats use multiple distinct loops across the park rather than repeating a short circuit; the 15-hour timed sequence comprises four loops that total 19.46 miles with 3,090 feet of elevation gain per sequence. The 6-hour timed event alternates two loops for a 6.83-mile sequence and, when repeated, can total 27.32 miles with 4,052 feet of gain. The weekend also includes fixed-distance trail events and two-day pass options that pair a timed event with a Sunday distance race.
Distances include:
- 10k: 6.83 miles, 1,013' gain (Red + Green loops)
- Half Marathon: 13.89 miles, 2,232' gain
- 20-Mile: 19.46 miles, 3,090' gain
- Stories 6-Hour: multi-loop timed format
- Stories 15-Hour: multi-loop timed format
Logistics notes: well-stocked aid at the main staging area, drop bags permitted, crews are not allowed, pacers permitted only for runners aged 60 and older, and campers must reserve park sites separately.
