Stone Mountain Massacre - Roaring Gap, North Carolina
Stone Mountain Massacre is a trail running event held in Roaring Gap, North Carolina on February 6, 2027. The event offers multiple distances and a themed challenge on the longer course. Registration closes on February 1 at 11:59 PM ET.

The course begins near the Visitor Center and follows the Bypass Trail into the Stone Mountain Loop, descending to Wolf Creek and joining the Mountain‑to‑Sea Trail. The route includes a long ascent via the 300 Stairs of Judgment and returns to an aid station to complete a loop of rock, roots, and mixed terrain. Elevation gain is approximately 1,530 ft per loop. Trails are marked with red ribbons and yellow arrows. Conditions may include ice, fog, and mud.
The 50K includes a Six Stones element. Participants receive a Protection Stone to carry and may collect six stone tokens located at aid stations. A handcrafted Blood Book is available for purchase to hold the tokens and a finisher medal.
There are five aid stations, two manned and three unmanned. Each station carries a stone token and offers food such as pickles, bacon, candy, cereal, and fruit, and drinks including water and electrolyte drink. First aid is provided. Event rules note no dogs or strollers, no refunds for weather, trekking poles allowed, walkers welcome if they finish, bibs must be worn on the front, and only registered participants may run. Finishers receive a unique hand formed pottery medal. Photos are posted about one week after the race and results are recorded online. A 10 hour time limit applies.
