Stone Cross to Lug - Solo
The Stone Cross to Lug - Solo is a mountain running event held in County Wicklow. The route covers a total distance of 49 km and features a total ascent of 2170 m. The course is categorized as extreme due to its length and the amount of climbing involved.
The event is divided into three distinct segments:
- Leg 1: A 13.18 km section starting near Stone Cross at Seehan Forest, passing Seahan, Corrig, Seefingan, and Kippure, and ending at Sean Kelly Bridge.
- Leg 2: A 15.99 km section starting from Sean Kelly Bridge, crossing peaks including Carrigvore, Gravale, Duff Hill, Mullaghcleevaun East Top, Carrigshouk, Stoney Top, and Tonelagee, before concluding at Turlough Hill carpark.
- Leg 3: A 20.15 km section from Turlough Hill carpark, passing Conavalla, Camenabologue, Cannow, and the summit of Lugnaquilla, before descending Camarahill to the finish at Fenton's Bar.
The route is not marked, and the use of GPS devices is not permitted. Participants must navigate using a map and compass. Mandatory safety equipment is required, including a waterproof jacket with a hood and taped seams, waterproof full leg cover, a hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a mobile phone, a foil blanket or bivvy bag, emergency food, and a means to carry at least 500 mL of water. Cut-off times are enforced at Sean Kelly Bridge and the Wicklow Gap carpark to ensure participant safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
