About the race
The Circuit of Glendalough is a mountain running event in County Wicklow with a planned route visiting four mapped checkpoints in sequence and returning to the start. The advertised course distance is 16.40 km with approximately 1000 m of ascent. The listed checkpoints are Camaderry (698 m), Lugduff (652 m), Mullacor (657 m) and Derrybawn (474 m); runners must visit these points in the order given. The route is unmarked and allows free route choice between checkpoints.
The event is rated as difficult terrain with significant ascent and distance and requires confident navigation because weather can change rapidly on the peaks. GPS devices are not allowed. The event is part of the Leinster Championship and has mandatory Level C kit requirements. Required items include a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, waterproof full leg cover, warm hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, map and compass, emergency food, and a means to carry at least 500 mL of water. The exact kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Failure to carry required items may result in denied entry or disqualification; random kit checks may be carried out.
Parking is at the Glendalough upper lake carpark where a €5 parking fee applies. Registration and prizegiving take place at the finish area near the carpark, and refreshments will be provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
