Stockport ’10 : event overview
The Stockport ’10 is a certified 10 mile road race based at Woodbank Stadium and Woodbank Park, the home of Stockport Harriers and AC. The measured course runs through Offerton and Bredbury and combines roads, parks, bridleways and about 1.5 miles of gravel or off-road sections.
The course begins with a 375 m clockwise lap of the track and finishes with a 350 m counterclockwise lap in front of the clubhouse. It features undulating terrain with two significant climbs around 5 miles and 8.5 miles. The route was measured and certified by the Association of Course Measurers in 2014 and re-measured and certified before the 2024 race.
Entries are limited to 1,200 runners and there are no entries on the day. Entry fees and an optional technical tee are offered; England Athletics members receive a small discount on validation of membership. Chip timing and bespoke finisher medals are provided. There are two water stations on course plus water at the finish; the event uses compostable cups.
Facilities at Woodbank Stadium include changing rooms with lockers, hot showers and a bag drop. Race photos are available to download after the event. For safety the course is not traffic free, marshals operate along the route, some sections are coned for single-file running, and headphones are prohibited under England Athletics rules; breach may lead to disqualification.
Prizes are awarded to the first ten individuals, winning teams, age-group winners from 40 in five-year bands and for new course records. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
