About the race
The StMU 5K for the Neighborhood is an annual 5K race and community event held each fall on the St. Mary’s University campus in San Antonio. The event brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members to run or walk five kilometers on campus and to gather afterward for food, music and fellowship.
Proceeds benefit Holy Rosary Catholic Church, which is adjacent to the campus. Past recipients have included United Way, the Neighborhood Place and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Proceeds from previous events have supported family assistance programs and parenting education services in surrounding neighborhoods.
The event program includes a post-race festival called Rattlerpalooza, hosted by the University Programming Council, featuring live music and food trucks. Attendees with a St. Mary’s ID receive a food voucher; others may pay on site for a voucher. Registration options and pricing listed for the event include a participant rate for ages 13 and over, a free child participant option for those 12 and under who are accompanied by a parent or guardian, and a reduced student rate. A Restin’ Rattler option allows supporters to contribute without participating in the run.
The event is presented as part of the university’s signature events and is positioned as a campus occasion combining physical activity with community outreach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
