Steven Derks Memorial 5K
The event is a community 5 kilometer running event held on Monroe Community College campus roads in Rochester, NY. The course is USATF certified (NY22018DNP). The program includes both an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K option.
Parking, day-of registration, packet pickup and post-race refreshments are located at Faith Bible Church, 1095 E. Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. Packet pickup is available Friday, September 25, 5:00–7:00 pm at Faith Bible Church and on race day at the church from 7:00–7:50 am. Parking is restricted to Faith Bible Church; parking on the MCC campus is not allowed.
Registration fees are $25 through September 25, 2026 and $30 on race day. The in-person 5K registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes September 25, 2026. The virtual 5K registration opens August 22, 2026 and closes September 26, 2026. Registrants who register by September 1 can guarantee a T-shirt size or choose Cool-Max socks instead; shirts are non-gender specific.
Awards include cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers (listed as $150, $100, $50) and gold, silver and bronze medals for multiple age-group categories for both male and female divisions. Post-race food and refreshments include pancake casserole, yogurt, bagels, bananas, salty snacks, water and coffee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
