About the race
The 5th Annual Steven Derks Memorial 5K takes place on September 26, 2026 in Rochester, New York. The event offers both an in-person road race and a virtual 5K option.

The in-person race starts and finishes on MCC campus roads. Parking, registration and post-race refreshments are located at Faith Bible Church, 1095 E. Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. Packet pickup is available Friday, September 25, 5:00–7:00 pm at Faith Bible Church, or on race day at Faith Bible Church prior to the event.
Registration for the in-person race opens May 1, 2026; registration for the virtual option opens August 22, 2026. Advance registration is $25 through September 25; the fee increases to $30 on race day. Registration closes September 25 for the in-person race and September 26 for the virtual option.
Awards include cash prizes for the top three overall male and female finishers ($150, $100, $50) and gold, silver, and bronze medals in multiple age groups for both male and female divisions. Participants who register by September 1 are guaranteed a t-shirt or Cool-Max socks in available sizes. Post-race refreshments include pancake casserole, Chobani yogurt, bagels, bananas, salty snacks, water and coffee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
