Steps 2 Safety - Walk/Run for Domestic Violence Awareness

Steps 2 Safety is a community walk/run held at Minto-Brown Island Park in Salem, OR to raise awareness and funds for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The event supports the Center for Hope & Safety and the Marion County Domestic Violence Council initiatives. All proceeds benefit those organizations.

The event offers two distances:

  • 5K
  • 1K

Race day activities include in-person registration at Minto-Brown Island Park Shelter #3, opening remarks by the Center for Hope & Safety, and the walk/run. Pre-registered participants may pick up race packets the morning of the event at the pre-registration booth; packets include a race bib, safety pins, and a race t-shirt. Shirt sizes are guaranteed for those registered by September 7 for the 5K and by September 1 for the 1K. Shirts are included with adult and youth entry. Ages 6 to 15 receive a $15 discount at checkout; ages 5 and under are free.

Sponsors for the event include local organizations such as Oregon Specialty Group, Pioneer Trust Bank, Pentacle Theatre, Capitol Subaru, MAPS Community Foundation, Willamette Health Council, Salem Electric, Evergreen Charitable Trust, Rich Duncan Construction, and People’s Bank.
