Step into Christmas : Southbourne Beach, Bournemouth
Step into Christmas is set on the beachfront promenade at Southbourne, to the east of Bournemouth, with coastal views. The event uses a flat, tarmacked out-and-back route with no elevation gain or loss.
Participants choose their own distance along the prom. Laps measure 5.3 km (3.28 miles) and the course is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers, so it counts as a road marathon for 100 Marathon Club purposes. All finishers of one lap or more receive a medal. UK Athletics distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under.
Race day facilities include an aid and drinks table at the start/finish of each lap with a selection of savoury and sweet items, plus an area to leave personal items. The organiser does not provide plastic cups. Public toilets and showers are available along the promenade. Number pick-up takes place on the day at race registration.
