Steel City Human vs Horse
The Steel City Human vs Horse is scheduled for August 1, 2026, at Hillman State Park in Burgettstown / Joffre, Pennsylvania. The event is organized by the Pittsburgh Area Run and Ride Trail Association.
Race format and distances
The event runs a simultaneous trail running race and horseback endurance race. Runners on foot and riders on horseback start together and compete over the same course. Distances for both runners and riders include:

Course, rules and facilities
The course is a mix of single track, gravel road, and grassy meadow. Runners do not need prior experience with horses. All participants must attend a pre-race safety meeting to review trail etiquette. The equestrian portion is sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC).
