The Steamboat Classic

The Steamboat Classic, also known as SC415, is an established athletic event in Peoria, Illinois, with a history spanning over 50 years. Founded in 1974, the event has grown into a community tradition that attracts participants from the local area and around the world. The event is inclusive of various movement styles and ability levels, featuring divisions for runners, walkers, joggers, and wheelchair participants.

The event offers two primary distances:

  • 4 Mile (approx. 6.4 km): A flat and fast course utilized for both citizen races and USATF Championships.
  • 15K (approx. 15 km): A route that includes hilly loops through Glen Oak Park.

The 4 Mile race serves as a venue for elite competition, including the USATF 4 Mile Open and Masters Championships. The 15K race is noted for its more difficult terrain compared to the shorter distance.

Participants have access to several event features, including a Power-Up Zone, training socials, and a post-race party. The event is organized with various categories such as a Corporate Challenge and a Scholastic Challenge. A "Pay What You Can" registration option is also available to ensure broad community participation. The event is supported by local partners and includes a weekend schedule with packet pickup and transportation options for attendees.
