The Steamboat Classic

The Steamboat Classic Presented by PNC is a road running event in Central Illinois. The 2026 edition is scheduled for June 6, 2026 and features organized races across two principal distances with championship and citizen divisions.

First held in 1974, the event has run for over 50 years and was created by Running Central (now RC Outfitters) and Illinois Valley Striders. The Steamboat Classic is also identified as SC415, a name tied to the 4 Mile and 15K distances.

The event draws participants from around the world as well as the local community. It welcomes walkers, wheelers, joggers, and runners of varied ages and ability levels. Organizers offer year-round training and community programs, including training socials and a Building Steam training program, under the SC415 banner.
