Event Overview
The Stayton Fun Run is an annual athletic event held in Stayton, Oregon. Established in 1983, this local tradition takes place on July 4th as part of the community’s wider holiday festival. The event base is located at the Stayton Community Center, situated approximately 15 miles east of Salem off Highway 22.
Course Information
Participants can choose from multiple distances that utilize a combination of asphalt and cross-country surfaces. The available routes include:
- 3 km Walk
- 3 km Run
- 5 km Trail Run
- 10 km Trail Run
Activities and Recognition
The event incorporates a Scout Flag Ceremony before the athletic sessions begin. Recognition is provided through ribbons for the top male and female finishers in five-year age groups for the 5 km and 10 km races. Additionally, a prize is awarded for the most patriotically dressed participant.
The event is held in coordination with Stayton’s Independence Day festival. Local festivities surrounding the run include a parade, a community dinner, musical concerts, a variety show, and food booths. The day concludes with a fireworks display.
