Event overview

The Stanza Stones Summer Edition is a 24-hour, 50-mile linear route on Saturday 6 June 2026. The course starts in Marsden, West Yorkshire, and finishes in Ilkley. The route includes over 6,600 ft of ascent, crosses moorland in the South Pennines, and passes the village of Haworth. The route visits six Stanza Stones that bear poems by Simon Armitage; the stones are named Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck.

Logistics and facilities

The minimum age to enter is 20 years. Registration is available at locations at either end of the route, including Ben Rhydding Junior School (Ilkley) for Friday night registration and Marsden Cricket Club for the start. Included with entry: live tracking supplied by Open Tracking, three indoor checkpoints with food and drink, a finishers meal, and changing rooms at the finish. Optional extras listed by the organiser include a coach from Ilkley to Marsden (£11), a quality cotton t-shirt (£25), and event insurance (XCover) for possible refunds.
