Stanza Stones Summer Edition
The Stanza Stones Summer Edition is a 50 mile trail ultra across the South Pennines with about 6,800 ft of ascent. The linear route links Marsden and Ilkley and visits the six Stanza Stones plus the historic village of Haworth. The event offers both summer and winter editions on different dates; the summer edition is scheduled for 5 June 2027. Minimum age is 20 years.
The route crosses high moorland and valley terrain and follows sections of established paths including parts of the Pennine Way, Stoodley Pike, Haworth Moor and Ilkley Moor. The six poems carved into rock along the route are titled Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck. Organisers provide six checkpoints with food and water, and hot food at three indoor checkpoints in Mytholmroyd, Haworth and Bingley. Support includes OpenTracking live coverage, an optional coach transfer from Ilkley to Marsden on race day, and a GPX route file. Finishers receive a memento and may opt to purchase a cotton finisher T-shirt; a finishers meal, changing rooms and showers are available at the finish. Camping is available at the finish site during the summer edition and there is an option to hire a bed for Friday and/or Saturday night.
